Family Therapy

Family Therapy aims to help people by thinking about the relationships and contexts they live in.

Sometimes this means seeing whole families, or at least those willing and able to come, and helping people to think about their situation together. Sometimes it means seeing couples or individuals, while always bearing in mind key relationships.

Family Therapy is well researched as an effective therapeutic approach for a wide range of difficulties. Peter has worked with families affected by:

  • Abuse and Trauma
  • Attachment problems
  • ADHD
  • Anxiety
  • Autistic Spectrum Disorders
  • Child/Parent conflict
  • Couple conflict
  • Depression
  • Divorce and separation
  • Eating disorders
  • Illness and disability
  • Post adoption difficulties
  • Self harm
  • School problems
  • Stress
  • Substance misuse

Peter works in a straightforward, friendly and conversational way. His aim is to join his experience, knowledge and skills with people’s own knowledge, strengths and capabilities to help them find a good way forward.

It costs £85.00 for a session lasting about an hour and a half.

Research and experience suggests most people who use therapy find up to 8 sessions are enough, often fewer. Peter offers two extra sessions free of charge to anyone who sees him for 8 sessions.

If you’re not in a position to pay for therapy, there are other services provided by a range of agencies locally.
